LDS Talk is a pool of resources and help guides for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ using technology. The site’s goal is to enable members by giving them the resources to facilitate the sharing of their beliefs by having the supporting aids of video, music, images, and content that can be used both online and offline.
Many talks have been given about using new media to support the Church’s efforts online, most notably Elder Ballard’s series of talks where he encouraged members to blog.
There are conversations going on about the Church constantly. Those conversations will continue whether or not we choose to participate in them. But we cannot stand on the sidelines while others, including our critics, attempt to define what the Church teaches….Perceptions of the Church are established one conversation at a time.
There have been many calls to action regarding participating in the online conversation and using the Church created tools and websites like Mormon.org. Still, even though the call is there and the desire is there, many members still wonder what they can be doing and ultimately how to do it.
The site is and will be constantly growing. If you are unable to find the resource or guide you are looking for, please contact me and I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction.
Mormon Videos
Mormon Messages are excellent videos that you can include on your blog or website. Video is a powerful way to express beliefs, thoughts, and feelings to your readers. Mormon messages are also great for Family Home Evening, Lessons, and sharing with others by downloading them and adding them to a mobile device or burning them to a DVD. Remember you are encouraged to share Mormon videos, but they are copyrighted, so make sure you are not using them for commercial purposes.
Mormon Images
The majority of the Mormon Images on this site have been downloaded from the LDS Public Affairs website and optimized for web viewing. These are a perfect addition to your blog posts about your faith. Images are a great way to enhance your message. Ideally every blog post or web page you create should have an image on it.
Mormon Music
Mormon Music can really improve videos you create for YouTube or to share during Family Home Evening.
Mormon Music is not limited to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but expands several genre and targets different age groups. All the music linked through this site is free to download and use for non-commercial purposes. Music is also nice to embed on your blog or share in a playlist.
One helpful tip is when you use music on your blog or website, turn off the autoplay feature so that the music doesn’t start automatically for your readers. Users might be at work, might be listening to their own music already, or they might not notice where the music is coming from and leave your site.
